Frequently Asked Questions
Questions About ACCA Qualification
I want to become an ACCA student, what do I have to do?
Do I have to write to ACCA to get a registration form?
Can you register me with ACCA?
If you have any problems when you are completing the form then please do email us and we will help you.
What documents do I have to send to ACCA?
You have to send two passport sized photographs, a photocopy of the details page of your passport, a photocopy of your university diploma, and an official list of the examinations you have taken at university. In addition they will need translations of the university documents if they are not in English. Please note that they do not require notarised copies - ordinary photocopies are enough.
When should I post the form?
They must receive the form by 31 December if you wish to take examinations in June, and by 15 August if you wish to take the exams in December. ACCA will never accept forms that arrive late.
Please remember the sooner you send the form the better because it does take several weeks for them to process it, and if you leave it until the last day it is likely to take them two months!
Do I have to take all exams?
If you have a University Degree it is very likely that ACCA will grant you exemptions from sitting some papers. However, it is the ACCA that decide this (which is why you have to send a list of examinations you have taken at university. Only examinations - they do not count just attending a course.)
When you have received a reply from the ACCA you will know which examinations you have to take.
Questions about Courses in Riga
I have registered with ACCA, do I have to come on your courses?
It is not compulsory to attend courses, however it does greatly help your chances of success.
Is my English good enough to study ACCA?
If you are understanding this website, then the answer is probably yes. You should however realise that all the teaching, study materials and exams are in the English language. Do not worry too much about the quality of your written English - you will not be marked on your knowledge of grammar (grammar in not taught in UK schools!).
Where are the examinations held?
The examinations are held in Riga. They are organised by the Baltic Council for International Education, who chooses the location. They are usually in one of the large hotels.
How many exams do I have to sit each time?
You can sit a maximum of 4 exams. Most students attempt 2 or 3 papers every 6 months.
How big are the classes?
Class sizes vary between approximately 10 and 30 students, depending on the subject.
What are the times of the courses?
All courses start at 9.00 and finish at 17.00. There is a lunch break from 12.30 to 13.30. and also a short break for refreshment each morning and afternoon.
Do I need to buy any extra books?
The only book that you need is the BPP Study Text for each paper (which we supply). These are without doubt the best text books for the ACCA examinations and cover the whole syllabus. If you wish to do extra reading then you can find the reading list on this website, but you do not need to do so.
When do I have to pay for the courses?
We issue invoices immediately after each course and do not ask for any payment in advance. We do obviously expect any outstanding invoice to be paid before allowing you to attend any further parts of the course.
Where are the courses held?
The courses are held in the centre of Riga, in the Riga Business School, Skolas iela 11.
